There are hundreds of combinations of ingredients to choose from when making your daily smoothie. Some turn out really well - whilst others look and taste like pond sludge!
Try this little formula for size. Just pick one ingredient from each category and blend.
Choose a base
2 cups of almond milk, coconut milk, coconut water, unsweetened apple juice, iced green tea or water
Chose a fruit or 2:
1/2 a banana, 1/2 cup of frozen or fresh berries, 1 kiwi fruit, 1 peach, 1 pear, 2 plums, half a lemon or lime
Chose a veggie:
a handful of baby spinach leaves, 1/2 a ripe avocado, 1 handful of crushed up kale, 2 inches of cucumber
Chose a protein/fat:
30g cashew nuts, 1 tbsp almond or peanut butter, 1 dessert spoon of chia, flax seeds or sunflower seeds, 1 tbsp of flaxseed oil, 1 tbsp (soaked) oats, 1 tbsp pea or hemp protein powder, 1 tbsp Maca or Lacuma powder
You can also add a superfood powder, raw cacao or even a mushroom blend to finish it off - there will be a wide range at your local health food shop. I tsp of vitamin C powder is a good idea if your immune system is in need of greater boost.
Simply blend your chosen mix together in a high speed blender or bullet.
My favourite is apple juice/blueberry/kiwi/spinach/avocado/chia seed and a little flaxseed oil, with a tsp of this. Available at http://www.naturaldispensary.co.uk
